This document shows progression in calculation (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in line with the National Curriculum. The consistent use of the CPA (concrete, pictorial, abstract) approach within our school helps pupils develop mastery across all the operations in an efficient and reliable way.  We hope you will find our calculation policy helpful in demonstrating how these methods progress within each year group to develop pupils’ confidence, proficiency and deepen their understanding of both written and mental methods.
