Ready, Respectful, Safe

Year 3 Remote Learning

Dear Puffins and Goldfinches,

We hope you all had a lovely half term and that you are refreshed and ready for this week of home learning.  In English this week we are looking at newspaper reports, to find out what is involved in writing an interesting article and how to grab the readers' attention. In maths we are focusing on money, we are looking at the different coins, and we will be adding and subtracting amounts of money too.  It would be great if you can set a little shop up at home, with different items, lots of coins and practise some of these skills.

How did you all get on with the mummified tomatoes?  We are keen to see your results, please send us photos that we can share.  Don't forget to fill in the last page of the worksheet either.

We have also got DT and PSHE activities planned for you, we will explain in our lessons what these are, and please look at the weekly plan for more detail.

Have a great afternoon, we are really looking forward to see you all tomorrow!

Best wishes,

Miss Thijssen and Mrs Pearson

Dear Goldfinches and Puffins,

Please find the attached plan for our last week before half term.  In English we are looking forward to read your creations of the adapted Egyptian Cinderella. You can publish this in what every way you want to, so you can use your art skills as well as your imagination this week!  In maths we are focusing on dividing a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number and mixed problem solving towards the end of the week.

Tuesday is Safer Internet Day.  We will go through the lesson online Tuesday afternoon, and then you can complete the activities during the week, when it suits you best.

Our science lesson is a combined science and topic lesson, as we would like to mummify a tomato!  We will explain the experiment in our online lesson Monday afternoon, and show you how to prepare and cut the tomato.  The experiment will last about two weeks so we would like you to upload the first part this week, and the second part in the week after half term.  We hope you enjoy it!

As everyone is learning from home this week, we are looking forward to see all you in our online lessons. We are so proud of you, you are all doing brilliantly! Keep up the hard work, it is very nearly half term!

Best wishes,

Miss Thijssen and Mrs Pearson

Good morning Goldfinches and Puffins,

We hope you have had a restful weekend, and that you are ready for another week of home learning!  In English we will be looking at an ancient Egyptian version of the Cinderella fairy story over the next couple of weeks.  In maths we are looking at the expanded written method of multiplication.

Please remember that in school we will teach Topic on Tuesday and Science on Thursday.  Also, we will do Guided Reading on Wednesday and Friday, so please make sure you have your workbook whether you are in school or at home that day.

We wish you all a great week and remember that we are here to support you, please email any queries or questions.

Best wishes,

Miss Thijssen and Mrs Pearson

Dear Puffins and Goldfinches,

Even during lock down time flies, and we already halfway through this term.  We are so proud of all of you as you all have adjusted to online learning so well.

We hope you enjoy the work we have set for you this week. As well as the daily English and maths lessons, there is a separate science and topic lesson.  If your child goes to school during the week, please note that they will complete Topic on Tuesday and Science on Thursday, and that they have PE on Wednesday and Friday.

We are also starting Guided Reading this week.  The pages are allocated in the Pearson's account so please let us know if you still have trouble logging in.  On top of this, we are looking forward to the Show and Tell sessions on Monday afternoon!

Have a great day, enjoy the snow!

Best wishes,

Miss Thijssen and Mrs Pearson

Dear Puffins and Goldfinches,

Very well done to all of you for another successful week of home learning!  We were very impressed with the high standard of dog leaflets that were uploaded, amazing!  And thank you for sending through the daily maths and English tasks, it is great to see all the fantastic work that is being completed and the comments from the parents really help us assess how things are going.

Please find below the planning for this week, we are delving into Egypt and by Thursday all children will take on the role of Howard Carter to write a diary entry about the amazing discovery of Tutankhamun. In maths, we will be setting our multiplication and division skills to the test by problem solving and in science we are looking at different food groups before designing a balanced menu.

Don't forget to watch the Star Assembly on Friday, 1pm, a link will be sent out by text on Friday morning.  Congratulations to Lilli-Mai and Jamie for being the stars this week!

There will be a PE lesson on Wednesday and Friday in school. So if your child is at school on those days, please ensure they are wearing tracksuit bottoms and trainers (no shorts please as it will be too cold).

We hope you all have a great week. As always, we are here to help so please don't hesitate to get in touch with any issues or queries.

Best wishes, Mrs Pearson and Miss Thijssen

Dear Goldfinches and Puffins,

We would like to start with saying how very proud we are of all of you! You have picked up the new way of learning so quickly and we have loved seeing you all in our on line sessions. Thank you for sending your work through as well, it is great to see your hard work at home and we are really impressed with the quality of this.

We would also like to thank the parents for all their support and patience, we couldn't have asked for a better start! We have now uploaded the work for next week. As well as daily English and maths, there are two extra lessons, Topic and Science. They are not allocated to a certain day, it is up to you when you do this, as long as it is done before the end of Friday.

Please remember that we are here to help and support you so don't hesitate to contact us with any queries or issues. We hope you all have a great weekend, relax, enjoy, go outside for walks and please stay safe.

Best wishes, Mrs Pearson and Miss Thijssen
