Home Learning Week Beginning 29th June

School Day

Hello everyone,  I can't believe that it is nearly the end of the week again.  It has been great to see everyone in school or in the Zoom meetings - and I was 'real' this week and not a picture.  Owls enjoyed the SUAS Year 7 Q&A with Mr Turrell and hope that it was successful with Eagles today.  It is no substitute for an Induction Day but it certainly made it a reality that 'Big School' is just around the corner.  If you have not been in school this week then here are the activities we covered.  Unfortunately I didn't save the Personal Hygiene narrated powerpoint properly so it is just the slides - I really only read them so apologies if you were hoping for Mrs Swanwick's dulcet tones!

Reading: Please could you read for an hour today? This can be your Bug Club Book or your own choice of reading book.  If you have not finished your Holes reading for this week, use this day as a chance to do this.

Maths: Theme Park Maths – We are now coming to the end of this project and will be wrapping it up in school this week. We have attached a PDF with all of the tasks required to complete the project. Work through them and let us know how much money you made at the end of your final Season. Remember to pay off the £500000 bank loan!

PSHE  - Puberty lesson 2 – Body and personal hygiene
Please use the powerpoint to help you look at and discuss  Personal Hygiene and looking after your bodies during puberty – ask a grown up to look at this with you if you can.  There are photos of different products but 'other brands are available'.

If you get chance, catch up with these Ask Lara BBC Teach clips - they are fun and light-hearted but give a clear message about physical changes in puberty and personal hygiene.  Extra clips to watch:
Ask Lara – Bad Hair Day https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07v1bd4
Ask Lara – Oh No! B.O! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07ttynr
Ask Lara – Spot of Bother https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07ttvc1

Transition to secondary school.
•    Zoom meeting if you are going to Stratford School
•    If you are going to another school, catch up on all the information that they have sent you, if they ask for any questions then think of some and send them in if requested – check this with an adult.

Wednesday 1st July

Good morning and Happy July.  It has been great to see the Owls this week and we all enjoyed our High School Zoom meeting yesterday - it was a great success.  I know that Eagles have a zoom call tomorrow morning and we would really recommend it.  If you have any questions be sure to ask them but if you don't want to, I know that Mr Lether would be happy to ask them on your behalf.  We have started some filming in school for our end of year video and also has some home clips too - thank you. We just hope that it is a bit sunnier next week so it the films look a little brighter.

Have a good day - Mrs Swanwick
