RAINFOREST

Our final topic of the year Is Rainforests of the World.  We will focus on The Amazon Rainforest in South America.

Our Geography focus will be to look at where in the world rainforest are, the significance of the tropics and the equator.  We will study the climate and also the physical geography.  In Literacy we will create Non Chronological Reports and write an adventure story.  ICT will link with Design Technology where we will make a simple puppet and use this in an animation.

Week Commencing 4th May 2015

This week we have started working on improving our descriptive language.  We tasted some Indian foods and thought about adjectives to describe the taste, appearance and texture.  Next week we will be focusing our skills on describing a scene, perhaps from a story.

Your homework will help prepare you for this work.  Think of a place that you know or have visited.  Look at a picture or photo and set about describing that place.  Remember to try and use all of your senses and try to include a simile or two!

If you are stuck take a look at the following weblink, Steve Backshall uses descriptive language to describe the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales.
