Phase 4 phonics bits and bobs-

Clusters (PPT)

Choose 1 or 2 activities per day

Read the Supermarket on Mars

(picture book on website)

 

Draw pictures of all the items you can buy in the Supermarket

 

Count by tens song –

We will learn how to chant in tens

Can you make some sets of ten?

 

 

 

  • Materials – see lesson plan on website
  • Talk about the materials used to make our toys.

 Why are teddy bears not made from plastic?

Tuesday

Phase 4 phonics bits and bobs-

Choose 1 or 2 activities per day

See video clip- Supermarket list (supermarket list including revision of reading tricky words) Write a list of items you would like to buy from the supermarket on mars.

e.g a box of rocks

a sun bun

Mathletics challenge

Numbers to 10 or 20

Go on an ‘Around the house materials scavenger hunt’

Which materials were easiest to find ? and the hardest ?

 Did you find some materials that were made of more than one type of material?

Wednesday

Revisit the ‘Things I will need in Space’

Write a list of items you will need in space

 

Tricky word teach – so -

All the items in the Supermarket on Mars are 10 pence each.

Look at the list of items you bought from the Supermarket on Mars. How much money did you spend? Use the count by tens song to help you chant in tens.

Can you buy different things?

You could make your own shop at home and set your own prices – use counters/buttons/pennies/stones/sticks/leaves to help you work out how much mum and dad need to pay?

Play the Yes/no game

 First player chooses an object and the other player has to work out what it is by asking questions about what material the object is made of / Is it hard , soft rough, smooth etc.  The answer can only be YES or NO !

Extend thinking and reasoning over the week –

Which materials would be best to use in Space? Underwater ? In a desert ? At the North pole ?

Friday

Revisit the ‘Things I will need in Space’

Write a list of items you will need in space

Draw some circles on paper and put some paint into shallow trays. Choose a number between 1 and 20 . Dip your finger into the paint and add that many fingerprint aliens on to your planet !. Count the aliens and write that number on to your planet.

 Continued from today’s Maths activity …You can add arms , legs and eyes to your aliens once the paint has dried using a dark  felt pen….. have fun !
