What we've been learning in Reception!
Week beginning 15.12.25
The Robins and Sparrows are enjoying a wonderfully festive run-up to Christmas. The children loved sitting down together for Christmas lunch, sharing smiles, laughter and excitement!
We've also enjoyed creating Christmas Cards for our friends and family - a great opportunity to practise those fine-motor skills and talk about giving to others. The Year 6 special friends came down to say Happy Christmas, for an exchange of cards and the Year 6's read their own Christmas stories to the reception children.
The children enjoyed an inspiring trip to Warwick Arts Centre to enjoy The Tiger Who Came To Tea. They really did Bridgetown proud with their excellent behaviour, and how lovely it was to hear all of their cheering and giggling!
We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing the children back, ready for more exciting learning, in January.
Week Beginning: 1.12.25
This week has all been about the Gruffalo! Creating our own terrible creatures, searching for the Gruffalo and friends in Forest School, building a Gruffalo's habitat in construction, getting creative in the Art area and even writing Christmas letters.
Week Beginning: 24.11.25
We have enjoyed making our hands stronger through developing our cutting skills, mark making on the interactive whiteboard, role playing as hairdressers, making music with instruments, digging for animals (we found lots of bears!), playing with small world toys and balancing on our outdoor tracks.
Exploring the texture, shape and smell of the season's favourite fruit! Reception had great fun scooping out these pumpkins to make room for their bubbling potions!
The children have really enjoyed playing with the bikes this week. It’s a great way for children to develop their gross motor skills and also learn the art of patience, turn taking and problem solving.
Week beginning 15.09.25
It’s been a fantastic first full week in EYFS, and we’re so proud of how well the children have settled into their new routines. Many of them are showing signs of tiredness, which is completely normal at this stage; they're working hard, building new friendships, and adjusting to the school day. This early fatigue will pass as they build their stamina and resilience. At home, you can help by keeping routines calm and consistent, offering plenty of rest, and making time to talk about their day (even if it’s just in small snippets).
This week, we’ve also introduced our school behaviour values in a fun and engaging way through three characters: Freddy Ready, a fox who is always ready to learn, Robbie Respectful, who shows kindness and looks after others and belongings, and Sunny Safe, a squirrel who makes safe choices. Your child may come home with a special postcard celebrating one of these values; we’ve added the reasons children might receive them here on the website. Please do ask your child if they’ve received one and even more importantly, help support their memory by asking why they got it! This really helps to reinforce the positive behaviour at school.
Week Beginning 01.09.25
What a fantastic first week it has been! We are so pleased with how well the children have settled into school life. It has been an absolute joy to start getting to know them – their enthusiasm, curiosity, and kindness have made for a really lovely start to the term.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring their new learning space and it’s been heart-warming to see them so engaged and excited each day. New friendships are already beginning to form, and it’s been a pleasure to watch them connect with one another and begin their journey together.
Our classroom has been transformed over the summer to promote curiosity and exploration and to build the children's skills in oracy and attention. We are delighted with the results, the images below show your child's new learning environment.
