Year 1 trip to Hatton Country Park

Year 1 went to visit Hatton Country World. We had a super time, even though we got very wet in the rain! We went on a tractor ride, fed the goats and sheep, held the guinea pigs and even got to touch a snake and a lizard!

We won't be starting our KIRF work until Week 3/4 of the term due to the order and coverage of our Power Maths lessons. However in the meantime, working with your child at home on numbers to 50 would be greatly encouraged.

Monday 26th September 2022

Today we had a mystery visitor and they made such a mess of the classroom, they ate all of the snacks and they even drank the milk! We contacted PC Bridgetown, who told us to look for clues around the classroom, as they should help solve the mystery. We saw sharp claw marks, black and orange fur and large paw prints. We thought it must have been a TIGER! 
 

Later in the day, we discovered it was the tiger from ‘The tiger who came to tea’. But where did the tiger go after he left our classroom? 
 

The Bog Baby

Miss Harris, Mrs Bishop and Mrs Pinner found something very interesting in Forest School ... it was a Bog Baby! The story 'The Bog Baby' has helped us to know what a Bog Baby looks like, what they like to eat and where they like to live. We have been busy labelling their features, painting pictures and creating our own small Bog Babies using playdoh. 

Superworm!

Our first text, in our English lessons, is Superworm.

We have been looking at what makes Superworm so SUPER! We have also been using our fine motor skills to carefully wind pipe cleaners around sticks and wool around card to create brightly decorated worms. Linking to Superworm, we have been looking at other minibeasts and writing sentences about what makes them so SUPER.
