Time Travelling with a Hamster By Ross Welford

What is the book about?

On Al Chaudhury’s twelfth birthday he receives a letter from his late father with a mission to travel back to 1984 in a secret time machine to save his father’s life. He soon discovers that time travel requires daring and imagination. This book takes you on a heart-warming race-against-time adventure with Al and his pet hamster, Alan Shearer!

Who is Ross Welford?

Ross Welford lives in London with his wife, children, a border collie, a hamster, and tropical fish. He was a journalist and television producer before he became a full-time writer.

The Wilderness War

What is the book about?

This is an exciting and often funny story about how Noah and his friends set about saving the patch of wilderness at the end of their street from developers. Noah and his friends spend their summers making dens, sleeping under the stars and toasting marshmallows over an open fire so when this is threatened they will do anything to stop their wilderness being destroyed. This book is about standing up for what you believe in, friendship and the importance of the great outdoors.

Who is Julia Green?

Julia Green has always loved reading. She was brought up in Surrey and now lives with in Bath with her two sons. She studied English and American Literature at University. She likes to write about real-life, relationships and emotions.

Little Bits of Sky

What is the book about?

‘This is a touching story about looked-after children and describes some of the difficulties they face. Set in 1987, Ira and Zac are moved once again to a different social care home for children called Skilly House. There are things they like about it, such as the staff and the garden with its huge tree and life gets more exciting for Ira and Zac….and holiday visits to a lady in the country leads to a permanent home.’

Who is S. E. Durrant?

S.E.Durrant always wanted to be a writer since she was a child. She lived in Scotland until she moved to Leicestershire when she was twelve. She now lives in Brighton with her partner and two teenage children. She has had many jobs, including selling paintings in Venice and teaching art to children.

Who is Peter Bunzl?

Peter is an author, filmmaker and animator. He grew up in South London with his antique dealer dad, artist mum and little sister.  He also had 3 cats and 2 dogs! His favourite children’s book is The Witches by Roald Dahl. He lives in London with his partner Michael and a fox who visits his garden regularly!

We will be choosing new Year 6 Pupil Librarians very soon.  Look out for posters or ask your teacher.  Interviews will be held in the school library on Wednesday September 28th.
